A rough preview. It is a simple simulation that runs in your browser: your photo never leaves your device. It is not the design Puntada makes, and not a file for your machine.

No Windows, no expensive software.

To make your own designs, until now you needed a Windows computer and expensive, hard software. Or you paid someone to digitize them. Puntada does it from the iPad: you decide what to stitch, Puntada makes the stitches.

  No computer.

  Everything happens on the iPad or the iPhone, in the browser.

  From a photo or your own words.

  “A light-blue hummingbird on a flower”, or a photo of your grandchild’s drawing: Puntada draws it and turns it into stitches. You ask for changes until you like it.

  Names and monograms.

  Type the name, choose the lettering and the colour, and add a small motif beside it.

  It tells you how to stitch it.

  Which hoop to mount, which threads to load and in what order, and how many minutes the machine will take.

  With your threads.

  Tick the spools you have and Puntada designs with those colours.

What people ask us.

• Does it work with my machine?

  First with the Janome machines that read .jef files: Memory Craft 350E, 400E, 450E and 500E. Tell us which one you have when you join: that is how we learn which machines to add.

• Do I need a computer or Windows?

  No. Puntada works on the iPad or the iPhone, in the browser. We have not tested it on Android yet: if you use Android, tell us when you join.

• How do I get the design onto the machine?

  With a two-ended USB stick (USB-C and regular USB): plug it into the iPad or the iPhone, save the file, and take it to the machine. If your iPad or iPhone has the Lightning connector, you need Apple’s camera adapter.

• What can I stitch?

  Small and medium motifs, 2 to 20 cm, with one to six colours: flowers, little animals, fruit, icons, names and monograms.

• How much does it cost?

  It has no price yet. The people who join first will try it before anyone else.

• What is digitizing a design?

  It is turning a drawing into stitches: where the needle goes in, in what order and with which thread. That is what Puntada does for you.

• When does it come out?

  We are testing it with an embroiderer in her home. We will email you when it opens.
